Christopher Edyegu

Christopher Edyegu is a political scientist and international affairs analyst specializing in China–Africa relations, African political economy and the continent's changing relationships with global powers.

He is a PhD candidate in Political Studies at the University of Cape Town, where his doctoral research examines China's role in the development of African manufacturing, with particular attention to Ethiopia's leather sector. He also holds a Master's degree in International Relations from UCT.

Christopher has served as Africa Editor at the China-Global South Project and worked as an analyst with Africa Risk Consulting, combining academic research with political intelligence, country analysis and assessment of political and economic developments across Africa.

At SPI, Christopher contributes to research and analysis on Africa's international relations, China–Africa relations, African political economy, industrial development and Africa's position within a changing international system.
